Přítomný čas průběhový
1. Užívá se k vyjádření děje, který právě probíhá.
| I'm learning English. | Učím se angličtinu. |
| She's reading now. | Ona nyní čte. |
2. Také s v blízké budoucnosti.
| We are going to the cinema tonight. | Dnes večer jdeme do kina. |
| What are you doing tomorrow? | Co budete dělat zítra? |
3. Také se užívá pro děj, který probíhá v přítomné době (nemusí to být právě v této chvíli).
| I'm attending an English course this year. | Navštěvuji letos kurz angličtiny. |
| He's studying maths at university. | Studuje matematiku na univerzitě. |
Většinou za sloveso přidáme příponu -ing:

| go | going |
Pokud končí sloveso na písmeno -e, toto -e nahradíme příponou -ing:

U jednoslabičných sloves se koncová souhláska zdvojuje (jestliže je před ní jedna samohláska):
